What to do Around Allston/Brighton During Spring

As winter fades away and spring blooms, Boston becomes an inviting destination for tourists and locals alike. One of the city's most vibrant neighborhoods, Allston, offers a range of activities to experience during this time of year. Whether you're looking to soak up the sun or enjoy some local culture, Allston has something for everyone.

1. Explore the Brighton Farmers Market: One of the best ways to enjoy the beautiful weather and fresh produce is to head to the Brighton Farmers Market. Here, you can browse a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as artisanal bread, cheese, and other handmade goods. The market is held every Wednesdays, June to October, 2pm-6:30pm. Brighton Common: 30 Chestnut Hill Avenue, Brighton, MA 02135

2. Stroll through Ringer Park: Spring is the perfect time to take a leisurely stroll through Ringer Park. This lush green space features a walking path, playgrounds, and plenty of benches to sit and soak up the sun. It's a great spot for a picnic or just to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

3. Visit the Harvard Ed Portal: If you're looking to experience some local culture, be sure to check out the Harvard Ed Portal. This community space hosts a range of free events and activities, including art exhibitions, lectures, and music performances. The Ed Portal is located on Western Avenue in Allston and is open to the public.

4. Enjoy a meal at one of Allston's many restaurants: Allston is known for its vibrant restaurant scene, and spring is the perfect time to enjoy a meal al fresco. From Thai to Italian to classic American fare, there's something for everyone in this neighborhood. Some popular options include Lulu’s Allston beer and American pub food, Roxy's Grilled Cheese for delicious sandwiches, and Bonchon for Korean fried chicken. Visit the Speedyway, for Notch Brewing, Birds of Paradise, Super Bien, and the Koji Club.

5. Take a bike ride along the Charles River: Finally, one of the best ways to enjoy the beautiful spring weather is to take a bike ride along the Charles River. The Charles River bike path stretches from the Museum of Science all the way to Watertown, providing stunning views of the city skyline and the river itself. You can rent a bike from nearby Bluebikes stations or bring your own.

In conclusion, Allston is a fantastic neighborhood to explore during the springtime. With its beautiful parks, vibrant restaurant scene, and cultural attractions, there's something for everyone to enjoy. So whether you're a local or just visiting, be sure to add Allston to your springtime itinerary.
